Digital Product Passports
Certain batteries and construction products sold in the EU will need a digital product passport. KiVerify™ verifies the facts that go into it.
What the EU requires
A digital product passport is a digital record of key facts about a product, reached through a code on it. Each product group has its own rules and start date.
Batteries
From February 18, 2027: batteries for e-bikes and e-scooters, industrial batteries above 2 kWh, and electric vehicle batteries.
Construction Products
The passport is set up in EU law. A further EU rule will set the details and the start dates.
Verify the facts before they go in
Use the KiVerify templates for batteries and construction products to verify each product’s facts before they go into its passport. Each fact shows who attested it, in what role, and on what evidence.
What KiVerify doesn’t do
The company that places the product on the EU market is responsible for its passport. KiVerify issues no verdict, and states no pass or fail. It gives no legal advice.
Where a passport needs a carbon footprint, KiVerify supplies the verified data. The calculation stays with you.
Ask yourself:
If a buyer asked where one figure in your passport came from, how long would it take to show them?
Pick one product and verify the facts its passport needs.
